Another attemp has failed and resulted in another call to Sheng Labs.
I managed to produce an "error" reliably. A lookup rtn would lookup OK, then
the next time it was accessed, down went the compiled script. The lookup
table was corrupted on the exit from it. Chkdsk, Tutility, and Restructuring
didn't see the corruption, but TurboPAL did. Only way to "fix" was to rename
the table, create a new table, copy the data and family back. A tedious
process when there's a string of automatic lookup tables in a row.
I'll be sending the entire application to Richard Sheng this time. He says he
can have the problem fixed in a couple of hours. Now that's support!

I prefer a more stable environment than Windows ... OS/2 user myself. I'm
fairly lucky, my job requires a decent setup. I get to "play" with new
software often. Many times it involves swapping components. DOS is still more
stable than Windows, any day, and OS/2 is even better. :-)

Did you notice the posting about this echo being dropped? :-( Hope its just a
bad rumor ...
AW> Heck, my "largest" app has two 15K libraries and a 22K main script

Richard Sheng said he had 80 Meg applications running under TurboPAL. I have
a few sitting 45+ Meg myself (potentially much higher). Libraries compiled
range from about 20K to 500K! The largest being the master procedure library
for all the applications.
AW> Do you have any basis for comparison of this product with the paradox

Sorry, can't say that I do, would welcome the comparison tho ... Have you got
a small benchmark test procedure in C/Pascal that I can duplicate in Pdox4DOS
and compile for comparison? I'll then send it back to you so you can verify
the results at your end. *smile*
AW> code from Paradox to get around licensing lawsuits...hmmm? That

Rewrite of Paradox? That's Richard Sheng's question, not mine. Sheng Labs
did mention something about they were going to try to get the rights to the
Personal Programmer development or something like that, so I don't think it's
a suprise to Borland. As for a rewrite, why not, the writing was on the wall
when Borland switched to Pdox4Win. So Sheng Labs "picks up" the clientele
that Borland dropped when switching to Pdox4Win. No harm in it from a user's
standpoint!
