        Well, yes.  that's true.  But in the specific case, Honor
Harrington post dates Trek and so Trek can not be influenced by those
stories.  The Honor Harrington stories may be influenced by trek to
certain degree, but that's just speculation.
        As for Space Opera influencing Trek, go look at "Forbidden
Planet"  I've heard it described as the real, true, secret first pilot
for Star Trek.  Many of the elements are in place there.
