BG>> My Courier works extremely well with ISD calls to the USA, BG>> but I can't comment on Europe at all, as I've never had occasion BG>> to call there. JP> What sort of connect speeds do you achieve? Prior to today, I JP> have been running a NetComm M11F. In order to connect to a node in JP> Canada, I had to lock the baud rate down to 2400. Achieveing an JP> error-free connection, let alone a high speed, was near impossible. JP> Plus, the V.FC negotiation phase seemed to take forever. For the JP> sake of dumping off some netmail and collecting several small files JP> in return, locking it at 2400 gave me a quick, error-free JP> connection. JP> Do you think I'll need to do this with my Courier? Depending on HOW CLOSE you are to your Exchange....You can actually get 33600/33600 to US/Canada. I have done this myself. The big hassle is Telstra stuffing around with the ISD service and restricting you down to about 16800 (to Europe). Continuous negotiations to overseas destinations are still a bit of a plague, some days, even with these Couriers. It seem all modems can fail here and I would blame the short cuts that Telco companies are using to increase coverage area, in favour of Quality of service/Full Bandwith to its users, to be the main cause.
