The consequence of not allowing smoking in bars/restaurants/office
buildings here in CT is that I have to run a gauntlet of smokers to get in
and out; and as the weather gets colder they naturally gather nearer the
entrance.

I sympathize with the smokers' position, but OTOH is nice to not have to
choose our restaurants based on the quality of their non-smoking section
(some may as well have been just a painted line on the floor).  With the
decline of exposure to smoke, I find I am much more sensitive to it.
