JP> Likewise here. :-)

FF>> Does this thing have a massive power amp in it to drive the

FF>> speaker? My God, it's loud!

DD>> The volume control seems to adjust between "no noise" through

 DD>> "very

 JP> loud"

DD>> to "EXTREMELY BLOODY LOUD". I only turn it on when I really

 DD>> have to :-)

JP> I am much happier having a physical volume speaker than having

JP> to control the modem's speaker volume using ATLn commands. I'll

JP> have to remember to turn the thing down before I go to bed. As you

JP> said, it's EXTREMELY BLOODY LOUD.

JP> The NetComm M11F I was using before was loud, but not THIS

 JP> loud!

FF>> It was too easy to set up. The manual even suggested adding

FF>> &K3 to turn off MNP5, and explained why. I find an init string of

FF>> AT &F1 &K3 far too boring for my liking :-)

 DD>> I used AT&F1&W here.

JP> That's what I've been advised to do also. Run a terminal,

JP> issue that command and then use ATZ from then on.

How minds change.....

Just make sure that you have the port speed at what you need to lock

it too, for all your software before you save it to NVRam.

OOOhhh OK, You can Come in tooo ;-)

JP> I am proud to have joined too. It's quite strange how I came

JP> to buy my Courier. I was half asleep early yesterday morning, aware

JP> that my bank account balance was healthier than usual (pay day),

Don't you wish you were half a sleep/implusive a year ago, then

JP> and I had the sudden impulse to buy a new modem. I was thinking of

JP> an M34F (since my experience with NetComms has always been good),

JP> but I decided on the Courier instead. The M34F is a good modem, but

JP> from what I have seen, the Courier is the LAST modem I will ever

JP> have to buy. Plus, it supports V.32terbo, V.34+ and HST.

On the ball here...didn't waste any time.

You must be happy with it
