I had played professionally in various pop groups while in High School.
Played a gig one time with the Jackson Five and another with a group nobody
will remember but had a few top 20 records called the New Colony Six.
Played for various large high school and college dances.  Played one summer
almost every night for almost no money but all the jack daniels we could
drink in East Chicago Heights where we were the only white people around
for 10 miles or so.

I was a jazz major, until I realized that even the most talented around
would likely starve, and I wasn't the most talented around.
