| subject: | Acronis TI Clone |
Tom, My first try using Acronis TI making a clone of my Vista notebook to the bigger drive in the adapter, I thought would work as I watched it progress, but it didn't. After it completed and I turned off the computer, I turned it back on and momentarily saw a Black Screen with some writing about Acronis on it, and then the pc started again- POST first then the screen that says Loading OS, and that repeated the POST-Loading OS sequence over again about 3 times until I turned it off. Then I put the bigger drive in and the BIOS appeared and asked if I was wanting to use the Vista OS, and I agreed that was what I wanted to use. But after I left the BIOS it wouldn't BOOT so I am going to try another Clone session but leave the bigger HDD in the adapter and turn it on again to see if that Black Screen with the word Acronis needed to do something like finalize the HDD. Here we go loop-a-de-loop. Thanks for suggesting I should Clone instead of Backup and then change HDDs. One thing I didn't expect was as it was doing the Clone it increased the size of the 3 partitions on the new HDD, where I wouldn't have to use Disk Management to resize them as what I've learned I'd have to do if I Restored a Backup to the new HDD. 73 ...
