HH> I am having a problem with dBase IV under a DOS session of OS/2

 HH> use
 HH> index on tag
HH> I get an error message saying "File already open" and I am not able

this smacks directly of the old temp file bug... DB creates temp files... it
gets it's temp file names from the system timer or DOS clock, i forget
which... anyway, the problem is that the system is so fast that it trieds to
create the same filename...
HH> Any solutions? Is this a dbase/OS2 compatibility problem?
yes, if this is the problem... it doesn't sound like an incompatibility...
contact borland about it... you can try turning off your turbo to slow the
machine down and see if ti still has the problem... likely, it will not... if
this is true, then it is the bug i described above and the only fix is from
borland...
