I also work closely with programmers and help distribute their software. I am
a
programmer and have distributed my *own* software. However, I do not wish my
software to be in the exclusive domain of the rich, or the upper
middle-class,
or anyone like that.
As for me "regretting" anything I've said, that's laughable. First of all,
the
only thing I have on my hard drive is software related to my BBS (which,
incidentally, is all FREEWARE, if you've heard of that) and text files. I
have
no need for software aside from that and, consequently, I don't have any.
Second, what would you possibly do? Call the SPA and say, "Some guy on an
echo
on a BBS I call said piracy is ok! Go get 'im!" Considering the millions of
dollars of software pirated every day, I think they would probably overlook
the
opinion of just one guy. The real distributors of pirated software are
thoroughly anonymous and anyone can find them on the Web.
Ironically, this should be a wake-up call for you. You plan on making me
"regret it" - regret what? Speaking my mind? Disagreeing with you?
Disagreeing
with the corporation? You are the ultimate fulfillment of my general
contention: that the corporation really is a brainwashing mechanism and that
it
really does cause violations of things like FREE SPEECH. Thanks again for
proving that I'm right.
