Once upon a time, out on MARS. While reading the mail, wispering this: LL> > Um...40-50 cd's worth? Might be cheaper for me to just > sell the > whole batch to you.. . > CICA, Simtels, Creams, Nightowls, and oodles more.. SA> LL> Well, if there's anything you *don't* want, dream up a price! CM> Be careful what you ask for.... Ya just might get it. I just might CM> quote ya a price for the whole shootin' match, BBS and all. CM> Temptation... :*) roughly 60 CD's, the BBS machine, and a 7 disk CM> changer... Make it worth my while to pack it and ship.. :^) SA> Your teasing? You'd sell the bbs just like that? I hope SA> not. Your not in the hobby for fun then eh? :) For the fun, the learning, cameraderie, and the challenges... However one can only do so much for so long with no thanks, whoop-dee-doo or other recognition of some kind. I've been around long enough to see loads of BBS's come and loads more go away. Lots of software authors come and more leave. It's getting a little bit harder to justify the extra costs with the phone lines, and other costs, when there's no one left to use it. :^( I _HAVE_ enjoyed the run, from the inception of my BBS back in late 1986, through its' many iterations and changes, to it's likely final appearance as a full multi-node dial-up system running a very solid commercial grade of software. With the distinct lack of affordable broadband coverage in my home area, it very likely won't appear anytime soon as a telnet system, though that capability is here (SIO/Vmodem under OS/goo). I just don't know at this time what direction I'll take with it.
