I'm not a big fan of Perl - I merely added it to the supported languages
list for SNIPPETS out of what I assumed (always a hazardous activity)
would be popular interest. If not, and since I want to manage the number
of active conferences, I'd much prefer to dump Perl and set up PHP (which
I actually use!)
