DK>However .. when you download and execute it, it supposedly reconnects you
DK>with a _very_ expensive overseas number (like in Slobovia
DK>or some such place), a 900- equivalent that costs you many
DK>dollars a minute .. _and_ you can't tell your modem
DK>disconnected from your Internet service and redialed for
DK>some reason .. _and_ it supposedly leaves your modem still
DK>connected to this _very_ expensive number even if you shut
DK>off your computer (or maybe just your Internet connect
DK>software). _And_ your phone company won't listen to your
DK>whining because it was _your_ system that did the dialing.
DK>Anyone hear anything else about this? Right now I consider
DK>it rumor (at best).
...I wouldn't even lend it that much credence...even if there were
some macro that could perform a trick such as this,no way could you not
notice your modem dropping out of your 'net-browser and re-dialling...it
just sounds like a crock of the purest and rawest sewage to
me...besides,when you shut down your modem, you shut down your
modem...end of story...it can't stay connected by itself...
