KK>Ken,
KK> You are not alone. Club activities need the support of the
embership
KK>before they work and from the sounds of it, you may not have the support
KK>needed. The first thing you need to do is determine the attitude of the
KK>membership. Could it be that they want to do things but nobody wants to
KK>head it up? The same guys always organize it and they are tired of it?
Appreciate your reply Kevin. There are about three pilots that have
been with the club for sometime and it seems they are always the
one's at the airfield. (BTW: They are the club's officer's too)...
KK>to Camden would work. It's just like kids at play, "well, what do you
ant
KK>to do? I don't know, what do you want to do?" So make a decision, take
KK>the lead, and anyone who complains? Ask them to offer their ideas for
KK>activities. You may just get an assistant out of it.
I will give your advice here a try and see what happens. Since I am
one of the "new guys" and am still trying to learn how to fly there is
not too many idea's I can come up with for the new pilots. I would
love to fly a Club 20 race, a pilion race, etc, but I do not have the
experience needed. There are only a handful of experienced pilots and
us "new pilots" feel like there is not much the club can offer to us.
The older pilots just want to be left a lone and fly is how many of us
feel......
I have suggested a contest day, where two or three pilots would
judge planes in different catagories, I suggested a fun fly day, and a
training day where one or two pilots would sit down and go over all
kinds of stuff answering questions and anything else. All of these I
brought up at one of the club meetings and since there were only 5
members present it was suppose to be brought up at the next meeting.
Well, that was back in August 95 and since then I am now working
second shift so I cannot go to the meetings since they are on a
Tuesday night. I tried to even have them change the meeting day to a
Saturday or Sunday where more members could possible attend and I was
never given a responce to that...
Just guess it makes me feel like why should I even fly planes when the
local club will not give me any support. I could switch to cars and
go any where and drive them around. Guess it boils down to that I
have always wanted to fly them... Now I just need a big open field
out my back door so I can fly there......
