I had thought about these sorts of things, too
For me, to strip off the Minbari's jump drives in favor of warp drives (And
the Centauri, the Gnarn and et al) wouldn't be that big a change. My
problem is - do I have anything interesting to say about them? Not really.
And this is why I haven't done this.
Similarly, In Stargate - The difference between a Stargate and an Iconian
Portal is minimal, especially with a bit of a rewrite on the Iconian
Portal.
I can imagine Starfleet's concern upon finding an early 21st century style
human culture with a Stargate/Iconian portal. Recall that 24th century
earth people consider 20th/21st century humans to be violently dangerous
loons. And the evidence in terms of the Eugenics wars and the Nuclear
exchanges of the 21st century pretty much backs them up.
But as for a more direct cross over? no, I guess what I do is to
transliterate stories I like into Jay-Trek
I think SG1 makes a hell of a gameable and fanfic-able premise.
