Here is another report (from a user viewpoint) of this occurrence.  When
I connect, and this only occurs when I connect at 28.8, after a second
or two, the display on the Sonic drops to 300 and then disconnects.  If
the negotiations result in a 24 or 26 T rate, all is fine.  It only
occurs when a 28.8 T connection is negotiated.
I backed off to -16 Beta and all is OK again.
