I'd have to agree.  I some echos, we are able to "be ourselves" (sort of)
and/or be someone else.

It smacks of the so-called "BBS ranking", where someone confides in
another, and their secret is broadcast everywhere the slimeball can, just
to feel "superior."

High school was 24 years ago for me; I have no desire to relive that
idiocy.
