I'm 67 and planning to enter the senior olympics cycling races at the
State finals after qualifing in the local olympics.
I need a better bike. I currently ride an old Motobecane that's about
30 lbs and I know I could ride faster on a better bike after borrowing
an old Bottecchia with Campy from a friend.
I know that I'll have to go $3000 or more to get Shimano Dura-Ace
or Campagnola Record components but really don't want to spend that much
money (I need a faster PC also!)
Does anyone have suggestions for a good fast racing bike perhaps closer
to $1000-$1500. Also how does Shimano Ultegra components compare with
the higher priced lines? Will the bike perhaps not coast as far?
By the way, I just happen to have a 20' O'DAY sailboat that I've got
on the market for only $1995 that I would consider trading for a bike
of similar market value. If interested, reply here for more info or
e-mail me at cn1027@coastalnet.com in New Bern NC.
