I kind of like this idea. It might correlate with patterns of star

long are these eons and generations, and are there empty periods within? D= oes
the whole galaxy rise and fall as one, or does these eons and generations v= ary
by location? I would imagine that different parts of the galaxy would have=
extensive
civilizations and other sections would be quiet, and that patterns of
stell= ar evolution
would determine the rise and fall of civilizations. In addition, because
a= s the galaxy
gets seeded with more and more heavier elements as supernovas explode, the = earlier
eons had less-extensive life than later eons. The Progenitors could have
b= een first eon/
first generation as well, and when they appeared, life was scarce. With
ea= ch subsequent
eon, life becomes more extensive and diverse, although at some point in the=
distant
future, the life-ability of the galaxy might decline.

Worlds that=20
are old colonies of someone else, and have passed through a period of=20
barbarism, to rise again. Some remember the past, other's do not.
Any examples in Garry-Trek? The Odonans are a second-generation civilizati= on.
They had forgotten their past, but learned it once archaeological
excavatio= ns began on
Kroos, the original homeworld. They did not decline to babarism, but did
d= ecline to a=20
less technological state and had to invent everything over again.
