I'm about 180 degrees out of phase with the rest of the world... I started
out using emacs as my editor of choice and now use it everywhere *except*
on Linux. In my old office - now just storage - I have a whole box of
various media for different machines, all with EEL code to make emacs look
and feel the same across the various machines and terminals I used. When I
got to PC's I looked around for emacs and finally found Epsilon which is
arguably the best Emacs clones ever written. I'm now using Epsilon 11
under Windows for most current work. However, when I'm running a shell
session on the SNIPPETS server, I use Pico. One of these days, I may
configure emacs on the server, but for the time being, Pico is OK.
