I'm sympathetic to this point of view, and I'll go you one further:

In a conventional war (versus what we're witnessing in Iraq) I've never
accepted the supposed difference between killing opposing soldiers and
killing opposing civilians. I think it's a vain attempt to put a veneer of
civilization on what is by it's very nature unspeakably brutal and
uncivilized.
