As for download errors, what kind of errors specifically? Is your
OPTIMA internal or external? What is the model number and version? As
for the carrier speeds you get, that really all depends on the phone
line conditions. My carrier speeds vary anywhere from 19.K to 28.8K
typically, depending on where I call (and from where I call). Unlike
the slower modems, V.34 modems are not designed to always connect at
their maximum carrier speed. They are designed to get the most out of
the line that they can, and since the phone companies are not even
required to supply the bandwidth needed to maintain a 28,800 bit/s
carrier, your carrier speeds will vary, and will usually be less than the
maximum that the modem can handle.
