My friend recently bought herself a new computer.
Rather than giving her old computer to her son,
she gave it to me. She took it into the shop to
have them switch my modem from my old computer to
this one and had them transfer all the info on my
hard drive. So now I have a 486 with 8MB of RAM
which means enough memory to be able to run my
desktop publishing program in windows.
There are still a couple of glitches, which
hopefully will be fixed soon. One involves
my mouse not working outside of windows and
the other is that the large floppy drive doesn't
work. That one doesn't bother me because Leta
said she would transfer all the programs that I
have on large floppy's to the small floppy's.
After all, you can't buy programs on the large
floppy's anymore.
This means that I'll be able to put together Our Journey
so much easier than I could before (I was going to
friend's homes). Once we qualify for IRS non-profit
status (my friend can write the donation off Oregon
taxes) then I'm sure we can get a computer with CD-ROM
donated. Until then I'm happy with this computer. It
is so much faster! :-)
I needed something to cheer me up so it was very
welcome.
Physically I'm still recovering from the surgery and
trying not to overdo things, but that is so hard for
me. Guess it's a good thing that I don't have the
energy to do much because of being anemic!
