JB> A better one is the vouvher fight brewing in Washington
JB> D.C. That school district has one of the highest costs per
JB> pupil to the taxpayer in the country and has some of the
JB> worst achievement records (where Klahn?).
Atlanta has a higher cost, for a district that is reasonably
comparable.
BTW, if you want to bring me into it do it in this echo.
JB> The House has
JB> just approved $10M for vouchers. The mayor and local civic
JB> groups support it. The liberal senate democrats are
JB> expected to fight it. The outcome proves to be very
JB> interesting. The government can only go against the will
JB> of the people for so long.
I would like to see it tried. Since republicans have been in a
position to do this for over a decade in several states, and
haven't even tried, it will prove they really didn't care all
along.
OTOH, notice how deep the republicans are getting the federal
government involved in education? I just love the way the right
has told us all these years education is not a federal
responsibility, now it's a republcan congress and administration
getting the camel's nose in the tent.
