SC>FW>what is the politically correct salutation to begin a
SC>FW>business letter?
SC> Floyd, this would depend on the aim of the letter and the knowledge you
hav
SC>of the party or company to be written. It is always best to aim the
etter
SC>a paticular party. Should this be unknown, a simple Greetings: should be
ok
SC>ttyl-steve
If the person has a professional title, that should be used:
Thruman Hardwick, Ph.D.
Dr. James Gordon
Mr. John Rae, President
The Salutation "Gentlemen" may be used if the letter is not addressed to a
specific person within the company, even though the letter is marked for the
attention of that person.
If two or more men who have no professional title, "Mr." should precede each
name. In this case you may also use "Dear Sirs:" or "Gentlemen".
However, as is often the case, the correct way is not *politically correct*,
and who knows what error they have introduced into salutations.
