Problem is (and what no politicians are willing to tell you), if the GST
was scrapped, it would be a return to the old manufacturing sales tax that
ran about 15% and was an administrative nightmare. We as consumers wouldn't
save anything, and we would likely end up paying more in the end than we do
now with the GST; it'd just be hidden like it was before so that we
wouldn't see it.
