Hello Neil! Replying to a message of Neil Heller to Darin McBride: DM>> I'm not sure where this all comes from. I know we're limited (due to DM>> performance reasons only) what parts of C++ we can use, but I can DM>> tell you that the software project I work on could not be compiled DM>> with a C compiler. NH> I remember you saying that you work mostly in Perl these days. Perl NH> is very much like C but I can see where a C compiler would have NH> trouble producing p-code from Perl source code. How long did you NH> folks try to compile Perl source code with a C compiler? :-) Yes, *mostly* in perl. But we don't ship any perl code (we use perl for everything from our build process to our packaging (CD-creation) process to actually generating C++, Java, and shell code that we compile and actually ship). I got to do about 500 lines of C++ code over the last two weeks - I was in heaven. :-) Darin ---* Origin: Tanktalus' Tower BBS (1:250/102) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 250/102 99 10/345 106/1 2000 633/267 |
