subject: Ribbon Embroidery Video

Hello
No problem at all on borrowing the video except on the timing. It is
almost impossible to estimate how long it will take for anything mailed
to start from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and wind up in New York State.
Once it gets to Marcy and she see it, it will be off to Charman Adams.
I can ask her to forward it on to you.
I can't say why silk ribbon embroidery looks so beautiful and so
intimidating to all of us who are quite proficient at other crafts.
That's still a puzzlement to me. I carried the kit I bought back and
forth to and from work for months before I tried it.
It is really easy and very much like crewel work *except* that you
*must* keep reminding yourself to leave the ribbon as loose as you can,
especially on material that gives - like t-shirt material or the necks
of my turtleneck shirt.
The other thing to remember is to hot wash dark colors before using them
lest the color bleed onto the garment on which you put the ribbon.
Since I machine wash everything and put all my wash into the dryer
(except blouses), this is important to me. It is also why pins are
easier in some instances. The packaging says to wash the ribbon in a
dark sock but I generally wash it in the sink and then pull it flat
before draping it over cabinet knobs to dry. Then I don't bother
ironing it either. Just wrap it tightly around the cardboard it came
on.
Do try it and have fun. The Bucilla pin kits are probably the easiest
projects and include all 3 types of needles...which you'll then own for
going on to do more on your own.
Let me know how you do and feel free to ask questions. We seem to be
getting a crowd of people who are doing some or ready to try.
Sara
