Actually, my point was that the one candidate - a former Houston police
chief - was against allowing a law-abiding citizen with a gun permit to
carry the gun onto the bus.

Sorry, I should have said that I have no objection to an honest person
bringing a gun onto a bus.  Hopefully, he had been to the range at least
once.   :-)

Same thing same in Waco at Luby's Cafeteria (I believe it was Luby's)
where a man drove his pickup into the plate glass of the cafeteria and
preceeding to shoot as many people as he could.  One lady was having
lunch with her parents, and had left her gun in the glove compartment of
her car.   She lived, but her parents were killed.  To this day, she
is regretting her decision about not taking her gun into the cafeteria.

There are several cases here where some thieves stole some cars. They
appeared out of no where and started shooting first.  It wouldn't have
made a difference if the car owner had a gun or not.  The bad guys
killed him before he would have had a chance to pull the gun out.
