subject: squish or jam

Hello All,

I have been reading in another echo a node having a problem with a large
message base and it makes me wonder about what message base format to use. I
have always used squish format myself and never had a problem but my msg
bases have always been quite small since I tend to limit them to 2000 or so
msgs but have been thinking I should increase that somewhat.

Is there somewhere an explanation of what a squish or jam msgbase can and
cannot do that is written in a way that a non coder can understand?

 Ttyl :-),
         Al
