Hello, mark. Monday March 07 2011 at 21:31, you wrote to David Collins: DC>> xml format for easy parsing goodness unlike file_id.diz. ml> parsing? whatever for? the things are made only to be stuffed into the ml> BBS' file description area... nothing more... if an author wants to I dunno why people need to fix FILE_ID.DIZ-450 characters should me MORE than enough space to put in a short description of the file so people would be interested enough to download the file to find out more...which what I thought was the intention. ml> are you saying that your bbs doesn't support a normal bayesian search ml> of textual data and that it requires some sort of database oriented ml> search stuffings?? i find it much easier to simply run thru a simple ml> text file or simple filebase format of descriptions :P It's called laziness; people can't use the text search or filename functions built into nearly every BBS. This I can attest to personally-I had one (now former, thank God) user who couldn't figure out what a "wildcard" was... ml> sometimes things can go quite wrong or at least differently than ml> desired... depending on who reads the text written ;) Good luck getting anyone to put that format into a BBS. Well, maybe Synchronet, but that's their thing I guess. As an author myself, I can tell you I'm too damn lazy to do much more than a basic FILE_ID.DIZ for my software. Really. That's just overboard... Later, Sean ...
