I bought my Hafler 500 in 1983.  It was a victim of one of my repair jobs!  
The 
fan started running on high speed all the time because it had become clogged 
with 
lint.  I took the top off and blew it out with a can of air duster.  When I 
was 
done I noticed a 3/8 inch long tan cylindrical component with a darker tan 
stripe 
and legs on both ends had fallen out on the floor.
It doesn't work so good now.
