If this is actually the problem, You could also keep Your different areas You 
were speaking about, if You could set accesses ( like in TG, Like I say, I am 
sorry, never ever looked at max )to Your conferences, then the setting in the 
message bases to nil would hurt nothing, as You controlled access via 
conferences which BW would not look at. I dunno, maybe I am only making 
things worse, but I had to do similar to You, with another piece of software. 
It worked well. It may not have years ago, with a lot of people, but in 
todays bbs world it is worth it to do and the the probability of any problems 
being serious in not very big.
