Traditionally, cc was the name of the compiler distributed with real UNIX.
GCC is the GNU Compiler Collection, which includes gcc (the GNU C compiler),
g++ (the GNU C++ compiler) and a number of others (for Objective C, Fortran,
and so on).  Most of the free UNIX variants (Linux, FreeBSD, etc.) include
at least gcc, and many include the whole collection.
