Hello Dan! 03 Aug 09 12:54, you wrote to Gaylen Hintz: GH>> Yeah, I'm running windows Vista but the 32 bit version. DC> ============================================== DC> VISTA Protecting users from thereselves by DC> making changes impossible DC> ============================================== There isnt anything more wrong with Vista 2.5 years past its release than there was with XP after the same period of time. XP didnt come into favor until SP2. I heard the same bitching and often from the same people after XP came out because it broke this DOS app, or this win9x app. These bellyachers refused to educate themselves the difference between a OS based on the DOS kernel and one based on the NT technology. They didnt understand that programs were no longer allowed to directly control the hardware and that said control had to now be made via the OS. Vista UAC, user access control, is actually a good idea, if one looks back at XP's 6 years of unfettered glory in which users themselves did incredibly stupid things to get their systems hosed by malware or poorly written applications or worse yet, poorly chosen decisions in changing system configuration. Of course Dan, you do realize that UAC can be turned off? Dont mock UAC, some people actually need it, they are that stupid. What flabbergasts me is that Vista had one of the longest development stages and the third party software and hardware folk where still lax as hell in getting patches and updates out there that would allow their products to run with Vista, as if Microsoft should be held responsible for the coding lapses of others. == Ross Fidonet Feeds Or Fidonet In Your Newsreader: http://www.easternstar.info E-mail: ross(at)cassell(dot)us | Blogs/Other Places: http://links.cassell.us --- GoldED+/LNX 1.1.5-b20060121* Origin: The Eastern Star - [Mail Hub] - Spartanburg, SC USA (1:123/500) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/200 331 14/250 18/200 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 SEEN-BY: 140/1 222/2 226/0 236/150 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 SEEN-BY: 261/1406 1410 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/104 260 267 SEEN-BY: 633/285 690/682 734 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2320/100 5030/1256 @PATH: 123/500 261/38 633/260 267 |
