Hello Michael!
Friday September 27 1996, Michael Raiteri writes to Jackson Harding:
MR> I found v1a at the latrobe uni mirror site. It runs like a charm on my
MR> system of warp with no fixpacks. On one particular netscape enhanced
MR> site it loaded the home page about 10-15 times quicker than Web
MR> Explorer. Looks like its Netscape for me :) pity the beta expires
MR> whereas WebEx is free :(
I've found little difference with or without FP22, but other things,
notably multimedia are better. It will be interesting to see if WebEx is
better with the FP or not.
MR> The jury is still out here on Merlin. I only have 16mb RAM with a
MR> DX4-100 and thats unlikely to change for quite some time so I'm a
MR> little underpowered for Merlin. As well Warp is very stable here
MR> with no fixpacks so I'll have a hard time convincing myself the cost
MR> of the upgrade is worthwhile.
I have a 5x86-133 with 20 Mb & soon to be 28 Mb, so I'm at a slightly
higher level of performance at which Merlin becomes viable. We'll see.
Bye for now,
Jackson
