Ok, problem solved, VMWARE Server is free and so is Freedos.
Since VMWARE emulates hardware, one could run a pristine un-emulated DOS environment.
or
Anyone still having their OS2 disks laying about, or go out and get eCS.
or
A copy of 32 bit Win Vista/XP/2K/ME/98SE/98/95 if the host is 64 bit.
I will let everyone in on a little known secret, many of you remember Bob
Juge {at} 1:106/2000. He was one of the best known repositories for OS2
software in the network. He ran his OS/2 BBS and Fido ops all inside Vmware
on a box that was running Windows 2000.
If anyone wants to live dangerously or do alot of experimental things,
virtualization also is the way to go. With the number of machines I have
going, I have no reason to virtualize but I have in the past.
My apologies to everyone for the spat I had with Dan Ceppa, but there comes
a time when you cant always blame the bleeding edge for the failings of the
trailing edge. People can bitch about Vista all they want, we are 2.5 years
past its release, I was there when XP was released and heard the same exact
bitching. "My hardware/software" no longer work. Windows 7 comes
out in 2 months and I bet we will hear the same thing.
We all have options and right now there are plenty of viable options for
running DOS without screwing the pooch or imbibing in irrational and
useless blaming.
