Not sure exactly where you are, but that's a damn good connect to Poe's
board, especially given the problems he's been having with poor bandwidth
lines.  Looks like Telstra might have finally fixed them for him.

Massive overkill, IMO.  Some people init with a simple AT&F1&K3,
although I use ATZ with Binkley, having already written
AT&F1&K3&W manually (there's a good reason for this, as USR
modems actually store the baud [bit] rate in NVRAM, so you need to perform
an &W with DTE already locked to your preferred speed).

This is what I use (&F1 template defaults, plus &K3 to disable MNP5)...

DIP #5 is important - switching it ON disables auto-answer, which can't be
used if your Courier has adaptive answer enabled.
