A few centuries ago when I was a grad student in Germanic Languages, one of
my fellow students was an adamant Marxist.  His wife worked for the
Department of Labor.  They decided they should buy a house in order to save
on income taxes and then described the reason for choosing the one they did
as being because it was in a "better neighborhood".
