As a general rule, the smell starts at puberty. That said, my 9 year old
recently bought her first deodorant, and my 6 year old has to change her
socks daily if she wears sneakers all day in hot weather. But think back:
Did you get daily baths when you were a kid? I'll bet if you were raised in
modest circumstances, especially in the UK, you wouldn't have taken a bath
more than once or twice a week. It would have been a washcloth and warm
water the rest of the time.
