It's not cowering, it's reducing the chances for misunderstanding.

It's partly why it is the RN & not the USN which has responsibility for
the Iraqi coastline.

So some of our people are having some R&R in Tehran. One hopes they can
get some prezzies for their family back home (e.g. a giant bag of
pistachios).

The TV appearances are following RoE they've been trained for e.g. they are
quite obviously repeating every word they are given word for word (i.e. any
obviously poor english is not corrected).

Look at it as "Big Brother - Iran"......
