It's not realistic, but it would be nice.

I really don't understand why some think it's darn peachy to go out taking
others lives on the condition that they may be a threat in some unspecified
future.  That's not self protection, it's genocide, which tends to get
other upset at you enough for them to pass you up. (so it's a double edged
sword at best and it leads to ruin.)
