Don't give up.
Until the end of September; well, you have about six months to do it. 
The 25km hike should be done in the summer.  The other stuff you should
be able to do in your spare time, at home (except for some of the
Conservation requirements).  Do that as soon as possible.
Actually, I did my 25km hike with a Venturer from the company I was
joining, and another Scout.  If you can't find anyone else to go with
you, that's an available option.
I earned my Chief Scout's Award in December of '93.  (The Troop
Court-of-Honour, to decide if I was active for a year or not, was four
days before the 'deadline', 3 months after you join a Venturer
company.)  I guess I can say it's a pretty badge.  :)
Are you planning to join Venturers?  It can be a lot of fun.
