Dear Friends,
I hope some one can help me with a problem I am having with Word for Windows
2.0 and a particular machine. I am blessed that I have been able to piece
together a backup machine. Both are 486's, the first which is working
flawlessly (at least with Word) is an Intel 486DX2-66 with 4 megs of memory.
The second is based on an IBM Opal m'board, and is an SLC2-66. They seem to
work the same, but In Word for Windows 2.0 on this backup machine, I can't
get past 5 fonts, Modern, MS Linedraw, Roman, Roman 10 cpi and Script. On the
other I have about another 25 fonts installed and I can access them all. On
this problem backup machine, the same fonts are in the Windows\System
subdirectory and are listed in the control panel under fonts, but are not
listed or accessible through Word. I am running Windows for Workgroups 3.11
on both machines, have over 100 megs on all drives, and in addition to the
normal font installation, I have tried several font managers including ESFTT,
Fonter, Fontcl, and Fontmaster. I also tried reinsatlling Word twice from
scratch, and even copied over the entire Winword directory to the second
machine, to no avail. Can anyone suggest a way to beat the problem? Microsoft
says they no longer support the out of date software, and suggests upgrading,
but it's like an old shoe - it fits and I don't want to have to change. Any
and all suggestions greatly appreciated. Be Well! --Gregg Lincavage__
