Scott,
I take the other approach. most of my pitch tools are aluminum or plaster.
The aluminum ones are slippery and a pain to hold. I paint them with
refrigerator epoxy spray paint, which makes them even more slippery but
easier to clean. I then apply no-skid strips to the sides and the tops in
a pleasing pattern. This is the same "tape" that you might put
down in a bath tube or around a pool. Now the tool is easy to hold and I
can pick it up without dropping it on the mirror and taking a chunk out of
the edge.
