It is a large country (in both area & population (70million)).

You would be able to but only with a large draft, an emptying of the
treasury & strikes against US targets. If you destroyed their nuke
power plant it would not surprise me to see them at the least damage one of
yours.

Rubbish. If you want to side with those who plan human sacrifice &
butchery on a massive scale then why not instead simply get young US people
on to a nice big pyramid & cut their hearts out as an offering to what
ever God you might worship. Much quicker & cheaper.

I am not saying you'd lose. I am saying that winning would be a Pyrrhic
victory in every sense.

You'd basically have one "front" from Syria to Pakistan. How many
US soldiers would you see being raised simply to provide boots on the
ground in the area in sufficient quantities to "win"?
