As you've no doubt read, raptors are positively blossoming in Manhattan. 
It was a BIG deal in 1986 when we had a small kestrel on our shower
curtain*. All our friends A-listed us to hear the story.  Cornell was
interested.

Now we see a peregrine or similar on someone's windowsill a couple of times
a year.  If you haven't stared at a peregrine four feet away through window
glass, it's quite thrilling.  They're BIG.  They have that eye.

*What does one do with a kestrel on one's shower curtain?  Well, I winged it
(ouch).  I put on the heaviest gloves I had and folded the guy's wings to
his body, one at a time.  He was frozen - totally glazed over.

Then I picked him up, folded and streamlined, and threw him out the window
(fifteenth floor).  Hell, he looked healthy.  He was.  He flew, away like a
shot.

Cornell told me I done good.  The wife uh,  differed.
