Hi Jim.
In my opinion, the "not my responsibiliy" mind set came about from my
generation, and how we were brought up. (I'm 45.) I can remember many
imes,
my parents, or my friends parents complaining because (the ubiquitious "we")
"we weren't doing anything wrong" when the store keepers or security guards
caught us shoplifting, loitering, fighting, and other general mischief
aking.
So suddenly we learned that it's all right to do things wrong, as long as we
don't get caught, or if we weren't causing too much trouble.
I wasn't raised that way, but a lot of my friends were. With me, the
prevailing attitude of my folks was: "If you get into trouble, you're going
o
have to get yourself out of it as well."
