~> ~> EC> "curveball" was the ONLY intelligence source that indicated that Iraq ~> ~> EC> had a chemical weapons program. John pointed out that was completely ~> ~> You have another source? ~> EC> One was in the part that you chopped out! The Iraqi government ~> EC> threatened to use them. ~> Iraq threatened a lot of things. That doesn't mean they had them. You are once again evidencing a complete inability to follow a thread. You said "curveball" was the only source. Anyone who followed the news knew better. From CNN for example: "IRAQ has given its first warning to the West that it does possess weapons of mass destruction and that President Saddam Hussein would be prepared to use them if his regime was threatened. The remarks were a complete contradiction of the official Iraqi position. Baghdad has insisted repeatedly that it no longer has chemical, biological or nuclear weapons nor medium-range missiles. Speaking in an interview with al-Quds al-Arabi, a London-based Arabic newspaper, an unnamed senior Iraqi official said that Iraq had used chemical weapons during the war with Iran and would use them again if necessary. " ~> EC> The UN said they had a program. So did the ~> Really? Then, tell us why the UN didn't give a go-ahead. It didn't want to. That has nothing to do with the point. Another pre-war CNN story: "As some in the Bush administration press the case for a pre-emptive strike against Iraq, weapons experts say there is mounting evidence that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has amassed large stocks of chemical and biological weapons he is hiding from a possible U.S. military attack. "Iraq continues to possess several tons of chemical weapons agents, enough to kill thousands and thousands of civilians or soldiers," said Jon Wolfsthal, an analyst with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. U.N. weapons experts have said Iraq may have stockpiled more than 600 metric tons of chemical agents, including mustard gas, VX and sarin. Some 25,000 rockets and 15,000 artillery shells with chemical agents are also unaccounted for, the experts said. " ~> EC> CIA. ~> LOL! They lied! I am sure that you feel compelled to believe that on blind faith, but again it has nothing to do with the point. ~> EC> So did various other countries. So did the people who FOUND ~> Name some, other than Great Britain. Great Britain, Italy, France, probably others including some in the region, but I don't recall. ~> EC> hundreds of chemical weapons after the war. So did the people who told ~> Really? You mean those empty shells predating 1990? The lab in Mosul. The various components of the chemical program that had been hidden. The 500 non-empty chemical munitions. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5a* Origin: FidoTel & QWK on the Web! www.fidotel.com (1:124/311) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/331 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 226/0 249/303 SEEN-BY: 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 SEEN-BY: 396/45 633/260 267 285 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 SEEN-BY: 2320/105 5030/1256 @PATH: 124/311 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
