I previously coded support for PING, TRACE, and the ARQ flag in hpt
via its Perl hooks.  I am working on it again just for the fun. People
rarely used those features then and I doubt they would get utilized
today but it helps keep scripting in perl sharp.

You can also code other features like maxage detection (no longer
necessary), CPD, or other checks.
