Concerning _Antenna_, MARC MOSHER said to TROY H. CHEEK in SCANRADIO:
MM> It's a very tall antenna and on the roof of a car it gets a lot of
MM> stares. Works pretty good if you don't have anything else, anyway.
Sometimes catching attention is a good thing. On long road trips, I have
truckers telling me when it's safe to change lanes and whatnot. No "breaker
breaker" or anything like that. Just brief little transmissions on channel
19 saying things like "The blue car is back far enough. Move on over."
Kinda annoying when all I had was the scanner. I could hear them, but
couldn't thank them.
MM> Mine's quite old and now the magnet has come off the base. I'm not
MM> sure how to repair it but I'm thinking of taking it apart and putting
MM> it on a trunk-lid mount from an old CB antenna. Not sure what the
MM> innards looks like but I think I could get mounted on that base.
I have vague plans of using a CB trunk lid mount with a scanner antenna, but
couldn't find a mount by itself that looked like it would work. So I bought
a CB antenna with a mount, and the CB antenna works better than the scanner
antenna I was going to put on the mount...
MM> Hate to take the scanner antenna apart because it still sticks on the
MM> magnet pretty good and if I take it all apart and can't mount it on
MM> that other base I'll have neither.
I hate having to kill one thing to bring life to another, even if I know it
will work.
